Like You've Never Been Away. Paul Trevor.

£90.00

Description:

This is a first edition.

In December 1974, Paul Trevor came to Liverpool as a member of Exit Photography Group, three photographers committed to documenting deprivation in Britain’s inner cities. Paul stayed for six months photographing the hardships faced by people, particularly children, at a time of economic depression and social unrest.

In 1982, some of his photographs were published in Survival Programmes: In Britain’s Inner Cities – a book about Exit’s work that is now regarded as one of the most significant photographic records of its time. National Museums, Liverpool, approached Paul about producing an exhibition of his Liverpool work, most of which had remained unseen and unpublished. The resulting exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery attracted 64,000 visitors.

The appearance of this work after more than three decades began with an email enquiry in 2008 from someone Paul had photographed as a 13 years old in Liverpool in 1975. This led to the work from that time being revisited and, in 2011, exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool.
